Partnering Together to Support and Empower the Grieving

The Bible says that Jesus was sometimes called “a man of sorrows”. Even though today it gives us great joy to know Jesus, in order for us to experience that, He had to leave His home in Heaven, come down and take on the form of a human body, be obedient to His Father, and humble Himself unto death, even death on the cross. But because He did that, now we can come to Him with our own griefs, our sorrows, and our sins. We can be forgiven, and we can know Him as our Lord and Savior—and even our Friend.

But when He was here on earth, the Bible says He suffered more than any man, especially on the cross.

I want to share with you a song today from Isaiah 53, called “A Man of Sorrows”. In this chapter, the Bible predicts the death of Jesus on the cross thousands of years before it happened. And now, thousands of years afterwards, we can know Him as our personal Savior.

For those of us who are experiencing grief and sorrow, we know that we can come to Jesus with all of that, and He will lift it from us. He will carry us. He will bear away our griefs, our sorrows, and whatever may be concerning us today. He knows all about it, He cares, and He's powerful to help us.

This is why we at The Widows Project have been called to comfort the widowed in their distress. Isaiah 61 says, this is actually the ministry of Jesus—second only to preaching the Good News to the poor.

Today, we would like to ask you to consider giving regularly to help us continue the ministry of The Widows Project. Linda and I volunteer the great majority of our time and energy to caring for the widowed. And we need your help as there are monthly expenses associated with our work.

We are a designated 501c3, so your giving is tax deductible. Also, Mary Beth is a licensed minister, a licensed therapist, and both she and Linda, as The Widows Project, are missionaries of Sonrise Christian Center, so you may also designate your giving through them. Or you may use this link to give directly to The Widows Project.
