2025 Goals Accomplished and Vision for 2026
Heartwork
After two plus years of prayer and writing, we were finally able to publish “Heartwork: Healing from the Trauma of Losing Your Loved One”. This book was the culmination of Mary Beth’s 20-year career as a therapist. To our delight, it was published just in time for our April Heartwork Retreat! This was the first of two retreats. At each retreat, 6-7 widowed participants experienced healing from trauma. They were ministered to by a team of 15 trained “Heartworkers”.
Pastor Aaron Thompson, of Marysville Foursquare Church, led a team of four people to minister Heartwork to 23 orphans at a refugee camp in South Sudan. Also, Pastor Aaron was able to teach Heartwork to 12 ministry leaders! In preparation for this trip, Linda and Mary Beth held a day-long seminar at Marysville Foursquare Church to train people to do Heartwork with widows and orphans. Some of these newly trained Heartworkers also staffed our second Heartwork Retreat and the Healing Hub at Sonrise Christian Center.
Grief Groups continue to be the mainstay of The Widows Project. We have several weekly meetings. For widows we have a Thursday night Zoom, an in-person group on Tuesday, and a special Zoom meeting on Monday for ministry widows. Widowers meet Thursday online or in person. Other widows’ groups have been launched in Idaho, Nevada, and Wisconsin. Our prayer is that such TWP Hope Chapters will spring up all across the United States and around the world.
International Outreach
We are currently conducting training for leaders in Burundi, Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. This involves translating our book “Take Courage! Growing Stronger after Losing Your Spouse” into French, Kirundi, Swahili, Likpakpaln, and Luganda.
2026 Vision for Ministry to the Widowed
New Books!
As God provides, we would like to publish “Take Courage!” in Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Russian, and Polish. Also, publishing “Take Heart!” in Spanish would complete the translation of our Care Package trio of books for our Spanish-speaking associates.
Heartwork
With God’s help, Heartwork has proven to be extremely effective in healing even the toughest experiences of trauma among the widowed. It is also effective for the loss of any loved one.
Heartwork Trainings
In 2026, we would like to offer Heartwork Trainings for churches. Through this Heartwork training, we can equip your church members to help those who have experienced trauma in the loss of a loved one. If you want to bring a Heartwork Training to your church, please contact us at thewidowsproject.org.
Heartwork for Kids
In response to urgent needs around the world, we have begun writing “Heartwork for Kids: Helping Little Hearts Heal from Trauma”. As God provides the necessary finances, we would like to publish “Heartwork for Kids” this year.
Outreach
The Widows Project would like to establish TWP “Hope Chapters” across the country and around the world. These locally run Hope Chapters would share the vision, values, guidelines, books, and teaching resources of The Widows Project as they support the widowed in their own communities.
The Courage Circle: Your invitation to invest in the widowed!
We have been called, as missionaries, to bring God’s comfort to the widowed of the world. That’s a big vision which requires big support. As a result, we will be establishing a giving ministry called “The Widows Project Courage Circle”. Through the “Courage Circle,” monthly donors will have an opportunity to invest in this vision that will yield eternal benefits! You will also receive an insider news and testimonies from The Widows Project. Join the Courage Circle today at thewidowsproject.org. Through the Courage Circle, you can walk with the widowed on their path to healing!
